Christmas 2010

Christmas this year is especially joyful because of the birth of a granddaughter to Jan and me. Adelyn Ann was born on December 10, several weeks premature. Her early arrival, of course, meant an extended stay in the hospital, and it looked as though she might be in the NICU through Christmas. We received good news today, however. The doctor informed our son and his wife that Adelyn would be ready to go home with them on Christmas Eve.
We were all happy about that, parents and grandparents alike. Adelyn’s parents were to stay overnight at the hospital as a kind of ‘dress rehearsal’ for life at home. At this point, I have not heard how that’s going. I will be eager to learn.
In the meantime, I am thanking God for what is undoubtedly the best Christmas present I have ever received. Adelyn is so tiny, but don’t they say that the best gifts come in small packages?
I look forward to getting to know this little one. She has already brought great joy into our lives. We are thankful for her arrival and pray that God will bless her with health of mind, body, and spirit.
My prayer for you is a most blessed Christmas and a year ahead in which you experience God’s presence and guidance.
